Hi, I’m John with FluiDyne. And in the previous videos, we showed you how to build a V20 pump and change cartridge kit. Well, and this one, we’re going to show you how to change the shaft without actually having to take a whole unit apart.

John Harrison (00:23):

First thing you want to do is just remove this retaining ring in the front. That’s holding the shaft and bearing in place. Once you remove that, you can wrap the old shaft with a cloth rag and then put it into a vice and clamp it very snugly in there. And then what you could do is tap on the front of the housing to pull the shaft out.

John Harrison (00:43):

Once you do that, you can go ahead and lay the pump down, and re-install your new shaft that you want to change it out to. And just kind of spin it around in there and just tap it down and spin it while you’re tapping it down. That way, it all lines up with the splines inside the rotor. Once it’s in there, if it’s moving freely, you’ve installed it properly. Nothing is hung up inside. Nothing’s going to get damaged. Re-install your snap ring.

John Harrison (01:12):

And then once you have that in place and secured where it’s supposed to be, that’s it you’ve changed a shaft on a V 20 without having to take the whole thing apart, you can go ahead and reinstall it into your system.
